LW Theatres x Nordoff and Robbins
Our official charity partnership
We’re honoured to be officially partnering with Nordoff and Robbins.
Together we’re putting music and music therapy centre stage.
Both Nordoff and Robbins and LW Theatres believe in the power of music to inspire, connect, and transform lives – both on stage, in music therapy and beyond. Music therapy is not a ‘nice-to-have’, it’s essential and life-changing for so many people.
This powerful partnership comes at a critical time. We could nearly fill all of our theatres twice over with the people they have supported with in the last year alone. But the demand for music therapy is increasing rapidly, and so are the costs of running their services. Nordoff and Robbins receive no government funding, which is why they urgently need your support.
“Music therapy has changed her. It’s amazing.”
Emmie is six years old and has Down’s syndrome. When she was just four months old, she had to have major heart surgery to save her life. Her earliest years were full of hospital visits and it was hard for Emmie to just be a child.
Emmie developed severe separation anxiety when she was away from her parents. But music therapy changed Emmie into “a totally different child”. Through music Emmie finally felt heard.
Your donation will help more children like Emmie and their families benefit from the life-changing impact of music therapy. Find out more about how your donation helps below.

Our partnership with Nordoff and Robbins: uniting performance with purpose
We’re dedicated to staging the extraordinary. And our partnership with Nordoff and Robbins puts music therapy centre stage, where the magic of live theatre and life-changing music meet.
Musical theatre and performance are deeply linked to music therapy through their shared use of music as a powerful tool for emotional expression, communication, and transformation.
Music Therapy
The Nordoff and Robbins approach to music therapy doesn’t take a fixed form or pursue a single set of outcomes. Instead, it’s a way of understanding the power and possibilities of music making, then applying that understanding to meet the specific needs of every client, family and community.
Every session is based on musical participation. This is always collaborative, sometimes one to one, sometimes in groups. These collaborations are led by their clients with support from their therapists.
About Nordoff and Robbins and their life-changing work
Nordoff and Robbins are the UK’s largest music therapy charity, with a unique approach shaped by more than 60 years of practice. They use music therapy to support people across the UK, train future music therapists, and carry out research to advance and share their approach.
Their work can be transformative, from an adult with dementia reconnecting with their family, helping an autistic child communicate and connect with another person, to a teenager going through mental health challenges using music to help them get through each day.
They witness the power of music every day, which is why we’re working hard with them to make sure high-quality music therapy is a key part of health and social care services.
