The Lowdown with Rumer
Posted 6th August 2025
We caught up with the singer-songwriter, ahead of her show in October.

Rumer has been making music for a long time, and she puts it all down to the special connection with her fans. So what’s her advice for longevity in the business?
Rumer: I think these days, a lot of people in the music industry will put a lot of emphasis on social media numbers and while engagement is good, I think mailing lists are more important. So set up a mailing list as early as possible so you can have that direct communication. Also, it’s quality over quantity when it comes to fans. Fans are very special to me, each and every one. The cost of buying tickets in this current economic climate is high, and it’s not just the cost of the ticket itself, it’s the travel and the accommodation and the drinks. And so people are investing a lot in coming to see you. Anything you can do to add value to the ticket is appreciated, so meet everyone afterwards if you can. I don’t believe in paid meet and greets. People have already paid enough to come to the show. My fans are very valuable to me, and I’m grateful for every single one of them.
And as a testament to that, her debut album Seasons of My Soul is celebrating a milestone.
Rumer: I wanted to make an album that stood the test of time and after 15 years, I am so happy that it remains in rotation on people’s stereos.
I am very touched that after so many years, this album is still special to fans. People tell me that the songs mean so much to them and as the years have passed, children have grown up, relatives have passed away, and there are more memories attached to the songs. Memories of sitting up, drinking wine during late nights chatting in the kitchen or long summer family road trips. Being there with people over all these years and being a musical part of their lives, it’s really special.
Is there something new to appreciate about these songs, by performing them all these years later?
Well over the years, I have never performed the entire album in order. On a normal show, I didn’t include the most emotional songs like On My Way Home or Healer in a set. I was always concerned they may be too slow and quiet to do, so it’s been nice to have permission to perform them live.
So what can we expect from your show?
Rumer: First, I’m going to perform the whole of Seasons of My Soul from start to finish. And then, we will do a selection of songs from my back catalogue, as well as a few brand new songs from my next album of original material.
I will have with me an incredible six-piece band of talented musicians and a few guest musicians. We are really looking forward to it.
But this won’t be Rumer’s first time at The London Palladium, having performed at the theatre back in 2010 for the Royal Variety Performance.
Rumer: A lot of people ask me what is “ THE” moment of your career so far and I always say it was performing at The London Palladium with Burt Bacharach. I remember standing up there singing (They Long To Be) Close to You with Burt accompanying me and thinking this is amazing, I am at The London Palladium with Burt Bacharach and this is the dream I had when I was a little girl.
Rumer plays The London Palladium on Mon 20 October. For more info and to book tickets, click here.
